Exchange books with people near you in under 48 hours.

Scan a cover for a free catalog listing, browse nearby as a guest, then meet up and confirm.

Built for Spain

Launch market is Spain with bilingual EN/ES support. Designed for local meetups, not nationwide shipping.

Privacy by design

Cover photos stay on your phone. Other readers see rounded distance — never raw map pins of their home.

Free Android beta

No ads in the product brief, no paid listing boost. Contact hello@bokily.com for feedback.

Cover scan

No barcode? Point the camera at the cover.

Many paperbacks have damaged or missing barcodes. Bokily’s cover scan uses on-device text recognition so you can still create a high-quality listing in seconds.

The photo is processed on your phone and deleted locally — we never upload your cover photo. Matching uses free Open Library catalog data for title, author, ISBN when available, and a real cover image.

  • Works without ISBN
  • Catalog-quality metadata, not a blurry user snapshot
  • Same flow as barcode scan when you do have an ISBN

Meetup

Meet nearby. Confirm with QR.

After a request is accepted, agree a public meeting point in the app. At the handoff, a time-limited QR lets both people confirm the exchange securely.

Bokily optimizes for successful exchanges completed in under 48 hours — not endless chat threads or listings that never leave the shelf.

  • In-app coordination without sharing your phone number
  • HMAC-signed QR tokens with a short confirmation window
  • Pending requests expire so books stay available

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers for readers and search engines about what Bokily is — and is not.

Is Bokily a marketplace?

No. Bokily is a location-first book exchange network. We measure success by books exchanged nearby, not by ads or listing count.

Do I need an account to browse?

No. Guests can explore nearby titles. Sign in only to request, list, or message.

How does cover scan work?

On-device OCR reads the cover on your phone. The photo is not uploaded. Open Library supplies free catalog metadata and cover art for the listing.

Is the Android app free?

Yes. The public beta APK is free to download and sideload. Google Play and iOS come after Android validation.

Where can I read the privacy policy?

See our privacy policy or email hello@bokily.com.

What Bokily is for

Bokily helps people in Spain exchange physical books with nearby readers in less than 48 hours. List a book by ISBN or cover scan, discover titles close to you, request a swap or handoff, meet in person, and confirm with QR. It is not a bookstore checkout, not a classifieds board, and not an AI matching gimmick — matching stays deterministic: distance, wishlist, and trust.
